Pine Cone Turkey - Craft for Kids

Hey everyone!  With Thanksgiving quickly approaching I thought I would share this quick tutorial on making pine cone turkeys.  They are really quite simple, and if you use fabritac or some other strong holding glue,  you don't even have to worry about the little ones burning their hands.  (ie, they can do most of it themselves)
For this project you will need; pinecones, foam balls proportional to your pine cone (these are 2 1/2 inch soft foam, but regular Styrofoam is fine) paint to match the pinecones, google eyes, scraps of paper in fall colors (I used cardstock, but you could use crepe paper or tissue paper), yellow chenille stem and scraps of red felt.

Begin by painting your foam balls.  While you wait for these to dry....
Cut your paper into strips approximately 1/2 inch wide.
Cut the chenille stem into 1 inch pieces and fold in half.

When your foam balls are dry, you can begin the assembly.

Make your turkey face using the gluing the google eyes to the front of the ball, place a small hole in the ball and insert the chenille stem for a beak, and finally glue a small piece of red felt or cardstock next to the beak for the waddle.

Here I added a piece of white cardstock to make a kerchief as well.

Glue the colored paper strips into the large end of the pumpkin trailing toward the back for the tail feathers.
For this turkey hat, I cut a three inch circle, then cut 3/4 of a concentric circle inside.  I folded the inside of my ring up and trimmed it to make a pilgrim hat shape.  A quick square out of yellow cardstock created the buckle.

These are so quick and fun to make with your kids for Thanksgiving.

Tower Bridge

Totally slacking yet again, nothing much getting posted here on my blog.  I have been just crazy busy.  I know...excuses, excuses.  lol

I have been busy creating.  But I have also decided to try and step up my designer status.  I recently became a Designer Member of CHA.  I had business cards made, registered for winter CHA, and have been working hard to make sure all my other commitments are met.  That, and I am trying to diet and exercise...all the weight I lost a couple of years ago is starting to creep back on.  sigh

Anyway, as usual, I have a million excuses.  I promise I am creating and now that things are a bit more under control I am hoping to post here more.

Today I want to share with you a project I made a few weeks ago, one of the ones that is on my business card....

Some My Minds Eye papers that have been sitting in my stash for like evah!  lol  A few buttons as well.  I find I don't use many buttons and I have a ton of them, so I need to start.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Musee D'Orsay

Hi everyone! Today I wanted to share with you a project I made using the beautiful  Lyric papers from Prima and my gorgeous Prima flower grab bag from Your Memories Here.

This photo is from the Musee D"Orsay in Paris.  Unfortunately you are unable to use flash photography in the museum and being that my family is a bunch of rule followers (lol) the photo is really dark.  Not as dark as it shows up in these photos, but dark.  sigh

Thanks for stopping by today.

Love the Sampler

Hi everyone!  I know I have been a total slacker when it comes to blogging these days.  So sorry about that.  I am simply amazed at how some of you are so good at blogging regularly.

Today I wanted to share with you a few projects I made using the October kit from The Sampler.

Doing a lot more mixed media these days.  Seems I have so many inks, sprays, paints, different mediums...seems a shame not to use them.

Be sure to check out all the wonderful projects from this kit on our facebook page.  Love the Sampler

London

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share a few of the inside pages of my London mini album.  Love, love, love the Vintedge kit from Your Memories Here.

We didn't have the best spot for viewing the changing of the guard...and I never did get a photo with a guard in a bear hat...next time?
Loved the BeafEaters at the Tower.  So much great history and our guide was so much fun.  He had great stories and a great sense of humor.  After many years of service in the military these gentlemen get to become human tourist attractions...it really takes someone special to become a Yeoman Warder.
Outside of the tower, in front of Tower Bridge...which also has great views of the city.
Parliament from Westminster Bridge....no photos allowed inside of Westminster (heartbreaking for me) and we weren't allowed into Parliament as we are not British (again, boo hoo)
Finally, Big Ben.....colors in this photo are just too funky for words...but I am in the photo.  I guess that is what I get when I turn over the camera.  lol

There is such an incredible variety of embellishments in this kit that I couldn't help but add quite a few to each and every page.  I really need to work more on this mini...lots more photos to share.

Be sure and grab your Vintedge kit from Your Memories Here today!  At less that $20 you can't go wrong.

Wishful Thinking

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share with you a project I made using the beautiful Wishful Thinking papers from Prima Marketing.  The Wishful Thinking papers are full of the most gorgeous colors perfect for all those special moments in your life...and in this case, perfect for my teen.

Of course, with the gorgeous blooms from my Your Memories Here Prima Flowers Grab Bag, I had plenty of gorgeous flowers to choose from to accompany my project.
A few of my favorite Prima Wood Icons were added for texture.  I just love the feel these add to my projects and don't think I can scrap without them these days.
and of course i couldn't resist adding a few of the Wishful Thinking Metallic Gems.

All these projects are currently available in the Your Memories Here store.  Be sure to check  them out.

Oh, and btw...these photos are from our afternoon spent at Kensington Palace in London.  The palace was gorgeous and the garden even more so.  What I would do to have that beautiful of a yard, or even one 1/2 that size.    sigh...I guess it is good to be the future king.  lol    Unfortunately we didn't see William, Catherine, or the new baby.

New Adventure

Hi everyone!  Today I am a bit crazy...as you may or may not know, we were actually in Europe for a couple of weeks, couple that with a master bath remodel, and starting this years school....I guess you can understand why i am a bit late today.

Phil and I at Versailles.....Gorgeous.  Did a behind the scenes, a private rooms tour.  It was fabulous.  Very informative and gave us an opportunity to skip the lines and crowds.  love
Love touring up and down rivers, you know we love to cruise.  lol  This time on the river Siene.
Westminster Bridge looking back at Parliament.  Trying to be in more photos.
La Tour Eiffel.
Hampton Court with my man.  Sorry that he is in the shadows.  sigh Turning the camera over to others means some funky composition and lighting.
Hanging at the Tower of London with the BeefEaters.  Such a fun day and so educational...yes, we are counting our vacation as a field trip.  lol

Just a few photos from our adventures!  Needless to say, we had a great, one we won't soon forget.  And one I know you will see many more photos of as I begin to create scrapbooks.

In other news, I just made a Facebook Page...so, if you like you can follow me over there.  Thinking I need to work on building my business.  https://www.facebook.com/homesclscrapper
