Metallic Tags - Your Memories Here

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to share with you a few tags I made using some Ranger Distress Stains and miscellaneous goodies (many from my Prima Grab Bag at Your Memories Here) I had lying on my desk.   This is a fun technique and I can't wait to share it with you.

You will need some Distress Stains, including the newer Metallic stains, a craft mat, and your tag.
Add a bit of the colored stain and the metallic stain side by side...don't worry, the stains are designed not to pick up other colors, so you won't contaminate your bottle if the two colors mix.
Run your tag through the puddle of mist.  Remember that Distress Stains are water based, so if you want the colors to blend and flow a bit more, you can just spritz with a bit of water.
Don't forget...you can also stain a bit of ribbon or seam binding to match.
And here are my finished tags.  I used my Prima Press to stamp out the "to/froms" along with lots of goodies from my grab bag.  I always love having a mix of fun goodies around to add to projects like this.
Just look at the gorgeous sparkle and shine on what would have otherwise been a plain, red tag.
 And a bit of green....
You can mix the different metallics with the same stains to get a variety of textures and colors.
I am doing all brown paper packages this year under the tree and hope that these tags hope to brighten things up a bit.

Hugs.

Nancy

You can find the products I used here:  At the Your Memories Here store.

Give Thanks - Your Memories Here

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share with you a quick and simple card I made using a Sizzix Flip-it Card die, some goodies from the Your Memories Here store and a simple, vintage image I purchased from Twisted Papers.
These fun Sizzix dies make creating a card so easy.  Kristina is always happy to find your dies for you at a discount   No waiting for a sale, just shoot her an email and she will see if it is available.
Bits of Almanac papers and chipboard mixed with gorgeous Prima flowers, some seam binding (I dyed mine with Bundled Sage Distress Stain), a vintage image, and some leftover goodies on my table and I was done.
A simple, yet elegant card to show someone how much you care.

Hugs.

Love Your Memories Here

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to share with you a new project I made using the gorgeous Declarations Collection from Pink Paislee.  When I first purchased this kit I thought I would use it for our Fourth of July photos.  Unfortunately, the boys were out of town and the girls and I went to a BBQ in the afternoon and then just hung low that night.  Not much in the way of patriotic photos.

Luckily, this collection is good for so much more!  This time, a photo of my love, Phil.  hee hee  Hard to believe we have been together for 22 years now.  We will actually celebrate our 20 wedding anniversary next year!
Of course there was lots of distressing with my Prima Distress Tool.  I changed the center of my flower using some Fired Brick Distress Stain and used a bit of doily I picked up from HSN.  A few Prima letters, a Paper Trey Ink Banner die and a bit of ball trim and my project was complete.

I am really happy with the way it turned out.  And so happy that my beloved paper is not going to waste because I didn't have any Patriotic photos.

OK, well.....gotta run.

Hugs.

Distress Stain Marble

Hi everyone, as I promised, I am here today to share with you another technique using your Tim Holtz Distress Stains. (warning, tutorial = photo heavy, hee hee)  But I promise, it is easy to do.

Begin by selecting a few distress stain colors to work with, and of course a tag.
Apply the distress stains to your craft mat.
Run the tag over the stain.

Here you see the tag after its quick trip over the mat.
You can use a heat tool to dry the tag.
Spritz the tag lightly with water to allow the stains to move and blend.
And here is the finished tag.
I added a Prima Trinket as well as the shrink art I made last week to finish my tag.
I hope you enjoy playing with your Distress Stains as much as I do.

Hugs.

Shrinky Dinks and Distress Inks

oh!  That rhymes!!!  lol  Anyway....Hi!  Today I wanted to share with you a little tutorial on using Distress Stains with shrink plastic.  Ainsley has a bunch of shrink plastic lying around and has been making some super cute jewelry.  Well, I saw some scraps lying on my desk and thought, hmmmmmm.  So I cut the plastic with my Tim Holtz Sizzix Gear die and....

You will need your Distress Stains, heat gun, craft sheet and your shrink plastic.
First, lay out some Distress stain onto a craft mat.
Drag your cut outs through the distress stains.  You will get a variety of colors onto the shrink plastic.
After heating with your heat gun (which I find much quicker and easier than using the oven, gotta love that).
You end up with a super cute embellishment.

I will be back next Wednesday to show you what I did with these, but until then......

Hugs.

Friday....

Hi everyone!  I hope you are having a great day and looking forward to the weekend.  We have a swim meet here...last one before JO (junior olympics) so stress is pretty high as the children try to ensure they make their times to get into that meet.

I have been scrapping just for me some more...and enjoying it.  Getting some things out of the stash and onto the page.  I need to get some serious space made, not only for new product, but because I feel overwhelmed and cluttered with all I currently have.  Maybe I should think about doing a LSS flea market?  Maybe a few RAKs?  Decisions, Decisions.

One thing I have decided is that some of my pages are seriously lumpy.  (Like that took a lot of thought). I have been working with a friend on getting those stacks of pages into albums and let me just say that it isn't pretty sometimes.  hee hee....Not that I am giving up the lumps and bumps, but maybe it might be better to occasionally scrap a little more flat.  And with that....

Ainsley!  Have you ever heard of Bucky Balls?  They are these teeny, super strong magnets.  My children love them...Ainsley especially loves to create with them, and on this day she created a tiny pyramid.  She was so proud of herself and couldn't wait to share.
I used some Random Crate Paper to build this one.  (pun intended).  And more of those fabulous wooden Pink Paislee alphas (this time colored with distress stain).
I kinda miss some of the dimension.....
But I am sure my poor post bound album will be happy.

Well, back to work.  Have a great weekend.

Hugs.

Organized?

Hi everyone....

As you may remember, I have been trying to get more organized this year...maybe put away that huge stack of layouts I had lying around.  lol  Another thing I am trying to do is organize my supplies.  So today I wanted to share with you how that was going.

A few weeks ago, I had Kristina at Your Memories Here order some supplies for me (if you need something like this, just shoot her an email, she can do a special order for you as well.)  And I have been busy putting them to good use.
When moving all my Distress Inks into the case, I realized that I don't even really know what half the colors are (other than the obvious...blue, brown, pink).  So, I decided to make myself a little swatch book.
I stamped with each color, inked one edge with a foam applicator and the bottom edge straight from the ink pad.  Then, if I had the crackle paint or stain I added a bit of that to the top.  A few colors I even had the Distress Stickles for so I added those as well.  Now I know exactly what colors I have and what they look like (and what colors I still need...hee hee).  In a few weeks, when I get my Distress Ink Pens, I will add a bit of writing on each of the tags as well.  I am really hoping this helps me not buy any more duplicates and reminds me to use all the colors I have.

Speaking of what I have, it looks like I am soon to have my Prima Winter 2012 CHA Grab Bag.  As per the YMH Facebook page....

"Great news! new CHA products are going to be arriving this week!!! I received shipping confirmation from Prima Marketing Flowers and they should be here as early as Thursday!! Those who pre-ordered, watch your emails for tracking numbers Thursday or Friday!"

If you haven't ordered a grab bag, it isn't too late.  Pop over today and grab one while they are still available.

Hugs.

Mojo?

Did you ever have one of those days...you know...where you have stacks of photos, tons of lovely papers, time to play...and no desire to pick up a photo and do something with it?  Well, that was me the other day.  I really felt like creating, but not doing layouts.  I guess sometimes it just happens.  So, what do I do?

I create little doo dads....hee hee

I am always in need of little boxes to hold miscellaneous supplies and left overs.  I have used this Sizzix die many times for just that as well as gift boxes.  This time I used a sheet of Romance Prima paper from the Annalee collection.
I embellished the box with lots of Prima Resist canvas that I colored with my Distress Stains.  I also used the stains to lightly color some mini roses to match.  I love having white flowers around as I can die them to match my projects.  I topped it all with a gorgeous Prima vine and a little birdhouse from my summer CHA Prima grab bag.

It was a super fun project to create, and while it didn't make me want to scrapbook photos, I had a lot of fun making it.  As a matter of fact, I made two other non photo projects that I will be back to share tomorrow.

Until then.

Hugs.

Happy Wednesday

Hi everyone, today I wanted to share a layout I made with more products from my Your Memories Here grab bag.  I purchased the large grab bag and have been scrapping up a storm with it for these last few months.  I still can't believe how many projects I have completed using the goodies that came in this box and while not all the yummy goodies came from the box....it really was the base of my project.
I used a sketch I found by Melinda Spinks to complete this project.  I loved all the little blocks of color.
I used my Tim Holtz Distress Stains to color the birdcage, bird, and butterfly chipboard from Maya Road and then accented the bird with some Glimmer Glam.  I colored my seam binding in the same way.  I also used the Distress Stain to color my canvas resist pieces.
Kristina has placed the Prima order, but there is still a few grab bags left if you would like to order one for yourself.

Hugs.

It's Wednesday

Hi everyone, today I wanted to share a project I made for Valentines Day.  Ainsley is always leaving me sweet little notes and I had this old mailbox from the dollar spot at target lying around so....

I used an older scrap of paper from the Pink Paislee Sweetness collection to cover the mailbox and then added lots of fun little bits.  I made the roses from Kraft Core Cardstock.  I cut them using the Sizzix Pinecone die from Tim Holtz.  I special ordered this die from Kristina at Your Memories Here after watching the 12 tags of Christmas this year.  Did you know Kristina can place special orders for you?  Just shoot her an email and ask.  She has great prices on lots of yummy goodies.

I accented the roses with some diamond stickles and then added some bits of bling that I cut up and a few butterflies.
I tied a bit of seam binding that I dyed with Distress Stain in Tattered Rose and a bauble to the flag for interest.

I hope you like my little mailbox.  Thanks for stopping by.  And don't forget that there are still a few more Winter 2012 Prima Grab Bags available from Your Memories Here.

Hugs.
