Tropical Fun with Chibitronics and Xyron

Hi everyone!  I'm back today and want to share with you a fun project I made with Chibitronics and Xyron.  I found this fun Palm Tree Box file at SVGCuttingFiles, and new that it would be perfect with the new Tropical Color Lights from Chibitronics.
Products Used:

This project came together quickly with the use of my Cricut and Xyron.  And decorating was super fun with Chibitronics.  Let me show you how to create the circuit for each tree.
I brought the negative of the copper tape down the top of the paper and wrapped the positive end around through the box and attached the battery completing my circuit.
Aren't these new colors so fun?  Love all the color variations that are now available from Chibitronics.  With the negative end up and positive down, it was quick work to light up each of the palm trees.
Here you can just see my negative run going through the top of the tree...don't worry tho, one I add the palm leaves that hole and the tape will be covered.
Embellishing the palm tree and making the hammock were super quick with the help of my Xyron machines.  I used the Create a Sticker to add dry adhesive to the wood pieces of my hammock.  I love that Xyron has machines in all different sizes for each of your paper crafting needs (yes, I have a huge selection...Xyron 850, 500, 2.5 inch, 1 inch...and even a tiny little 1/2 inch lol.
After adding these little coconut pieces that I made with my Xyron Sticker Maker and some twine to the hammock I was done.

I haven't decided what I will do with this fun little home decor piece yet...Maybe use to hold some fun drink pics at my next Tiki Party?  hmmmm
Thanks for dropping by.  Now, head on over to the Xyron Facebook Page where the Xyron Design Team is sharing some fun Chibitronics projects all week long.

Hugs.

Mixable Misty Mini and Prima

Hello everyone! Looks like I am on a roll sharing mini albums from Clear Scraps.  Today I want to share with you another mini album I made for an upcoming beach trip. I love the Mixable Misty album, from Clear Scraps.  The combination of acrlyic and chipboard is so fun and makes the designing a snap.

I filled the mini album with lots of gorgeous new Prima Seashore papers and embellishments, as well as some older items from my stash. I love the colors of the Prima Seashore collection.  Just perfect for our Nothern California beaches.

I dry brushed the acrlyic pages with a mixture of texture paste and inks and to get the edges to really pop.  The fun edges of the pages really deserve a little something extra.

I also inked the edges of my chipboard pages to help blend the edges of my papers with the chipboard.

When working on the album I tried to allow as much of the surrounding pages to show through the acrylic, taking full advantage of the beautiful see through property.  And using double sided papers makes it that much easier to design the back sides.

Filled with little pockets and lots of room for journaling and photos, I can't wait to hit the beach and fill this book with wonderful memories.

Beach Memories - Scrapbooking

Hi everyone!  Goodness, summer has come on hard and fast.  You wouldn't believe how crazy busy things have been around here.  I have barely had time to breathe, much less blog.  sorry.

Anyway, all my little kittens are home for the summer and I hope soon to have more days like this one we spent at the beach.  I love the beach.  And I love this new collection from Prima Marketing.  The soft, muted colors are perfect for our northern California beaches.

Surprisingly enough, this day we actually had blue skies and sun.  lol....

Beach Life - Webster's Pages

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share with you a layout I made featuring Brighton.  It is so hard to find papers that suit him, but these gorgeous papers from Webster's Pages were just perfect.  Of course, it doesn't hurt that they were photos from the beach.

What a gorgeous day at the beach.  I am trying to work through my stash of papers and these were just calling my name
Mixed with fun Prima wood pieces, fun buttons from Hydrangea Hippo and a Pink Paislee wood font, the papers were manned up.  lol
And I love, love, love the super fun zipper (also from Prima) and the larger bird from Maya Road.
This fall Brighton will be living just a couple of miles from the beach so I imagine he will be spending quite a bit of time there.

Thanks for dropping by.

Beach Board Walk - The Sampler

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share with you another project I made using the August kit, Royal Birthday Wishes from the Sampler.  I took the children and a few of their friends to the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk for the day.  What a great time.  We spent a good part of the day playing on the beach and then hit the rides in the evening.  Of course, we had to finish off the day with icecream.  hee hee

I added a few items from a previous month's kit that I had lying about and colored my butterflies with some permanent markers to make them match my page.

Don't forget to check out the color challenge here at the sampler.  There is still time to play.

Sun Day

Hi everyone!  Today I want to share a layout of the girls playing on the beach.  So many times, here in Northern California we are rewarded with cold, foggy beach days.  This year however the days we have gone have been incredible, warm and full of sunshine.

It seems lately that most of my time is spent doing DT work, it is kinda nice to make a project just for me.  And, it is nice to work through some of my stash.  This time some older Echo Park papers and stickers as well as some super cute Studio Calico canvas pieces I bought forever ago.
Of course, I couldn't resist adding in a little flower from Hydrangea Hippo.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Make a Splash - The Sampler

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to share with you another project made with photos from my trip to Hawaii.  The children loved playing in the warm ocean water, such a change from the colder northern California beaches.

The papers and the trims in the September, Flying High Kit, from the Sampler were just perfect for these photos.  I used  few flowers and chipboards from my stash.
Only a few more days to complete the Sampler card and sketch challenges.  You don't have to use a Sampler kit to play, and there is a good chance you could win a prize.

Hooray for Long Weekends

Hi everyone!  Hope you are having a great day.  I can't believe that Friday is already here and that we in the US are celebrating Labor Day.  Where did the summer go?

If you are looking for the Sampler blog hop post please go here....

If you just want to drop in and maybe have a cup of coffee....see what I have been up to?  lol

How about another project I did for Hydrangea Hippo using the Island Summer kit.   I really love this kit and decided one of the projects I just had to make was a mini album. So many fun goodies in the kit...how could I resist.

This kit features some gorgeous papers from Trinity Paper Arts.  Perfect for all those beach photos.
 And the buttons///
 And the trims......
And of course I put it all together with my Bind-it-All.
I hope to use this for some of the hundreds of photos I took while in Hawaii!  hee hee

OK, well....lots going on here as usual.  Spending a lot of time working one on one with Ainsley.

Feeling Crabby - The Sampler

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to share with you a layout I made featuring the cutest little crab Phil and I saw while relaxing on the beach in Hawaii.  not sure what this little guy was up to, but he was just skittering all over the sand.

Of course I used my Sampler kit for this one.  I love the mix of patterns in this kit.  and the cute little cardstock borders......
But, I think my favorite thing has got to be the mists.  Not only did I use them to color the resist alphabet
But I also splattered them on my cardstock to add interest.
Don't forget that there are new sketch and card challenges up at The Sampler blog...You don't have to use the kit to win some great prizes.

Thursday- A Little Peek

Hi everyone!  Goodness things are still crazy here...planning for another championship swim meet, Phil's birthday is today (happy birthday, honey) and trying to get caught up on everything else around here.  I wanted to sneak in and share that i have a blog post up today at Hydrangea Hippo, a super cute/fun group of projects using a kit from Jennifer's store.  The projects include this layout of my dh learning to surf.

The colors in this kit are fabulous and I really love all the fun buttons and baubles this kit came with (seriously....check out the post at Hydrangea Hippo).  I used my Bind-it-All to crate a little mini album for my page to showcase a few other photos.

Anyway....back to work.

Feeling Beachy? Zutter and Clearsnap

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to share something a little different for me, a fun mixed media wall hanging I made using my Zutter Bind-it-All, o-WiresCanvas Artboard and lots of fun goodies from ClearSnap.

I love the texture and weight of the canvas art board.  It is the perfect weight for heavier items like these small shells.  I began these canvases by spritizing with a mixture of different colors of Smooch Spritz, allowing the colors to bleed into one another.  I then added a bit of gesso and finally a super cute embossed sun.  Did you know that Clearsnap makes scented embossing powders under the Color Box line?  This yellow smells like lemons.  So super fun on a project, I really want to make a card using it.
The Zutter canvas readily accepted the different mediums including inks, gesso, spray ink, stamps and embossing and was a super fun weight to work with.
And the antique brass o-wires complimented my project perfectly.

I had a great time creating this wall hanging and I know you would have fun playing with the art board as well.

I Warned You

So, after a crazy, swim filled weekend I am back today with a quick post to share my latest project for Miracles Momma.    Heather once again came up with a wonderful sketch to play with

Fun, huh!  Here is my take.

I flipped things around a bit and added individual photos instead of the larger ones.  But I think you can see it.  These are some photos from almost two years ago, surfing in Oceanside, CA.  So much fun.  And look at the size of those long boards.  It makes it much easier to learn is what I have been told.

Anyway, be sure and check out the other designer takes on the sketch here.

Turning Templates into....

If you have been following my blog for a while you know how much I love using sketches.  You probably also have noticed that I am not very digi oriented.  As a matter of fact, I stink at digi layouts.  But there are so many great products out there that use digi, I can't resist giving it a go every now and then.

Pammy challenged the designers for Ideas For Scrapbookers to use a gorgeous template she designed.  You can find the template here.  Well, being that I don't do digi I turned the template into a sketch and went to work.  It was quite a challenge because our Northern California beaches aren't your typical sunshiney (is that a word) beaches.  Papers and embellishments are hard to come by.  But I tried.....

Ainsley loves going to the beach, she doesn't care that it is cold, that we are all wearing our sweatshirts and wrapped in blankets.  She is there to have fun in the sand (note I don't say sun, because frankly, there isn't any most days.  lol) and surf.  She loves the ocean and you can hear her screams of delight for miles.  Oh to be a kid again.

Well, be sure to hop over to Ideas for Scrapbookers and check out the other designers takes on Pam's wonderful design.

Hugs.

I'm Back (caution...photo heavy)

But only for a quick minute.

Life is crazy, crazy busy.  Swim season is kicking my bootie right now.  With "fun" activities for the swimmers, meetings, meets, and general administrative duties; this time of the season is just no fun.  Add to that ballet summer intensive and my life just seems to be spinning out of control.

Funny really.  I have spoken with a number of friends in the last few days and we all agree that this summer has been no fun.  sigh  What every happened to long lazy summers?

Going Backwards to July 4th weekend....

Two swim meets which I didn't get photos of....but, I promise...they happened.

and.....
Our Age outs.

Our Swim Team 15-18 Beach Barbque and Bonfire
Yep, Ainsley and Mackenzie get to go cause...well, can't leave them home alone.  hee hee
We had about 20 kids (plus mine).  Fun, fun, fun.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band Tourny at my house for the 12-14 age group. Again 20 or so kids.

Great America with the Fam.  Only the 5 of us for this one!  lol

Another beach day, this time the family.  Why won't Brighton let me take his photo?

Fireworks in the Parking Lot next to the hotel on the raft trip.
(yes, we swept the entire lot after we finished, had buckets of water handy just in case, and plenty of adult supervision)

And our annual swim team raft trip.

And I wonder why I am always so tired.

Well, speaking of busy...time to run to my league board meeting.  Tonight is champs walk thru and exceptions.

Hugs.
