Flipping Out with Sizzix

Hi everyone!  today I have a special card to share with you.  Back at CHA I attended a Blogger event with FaveCrafts and many different manufacturers...one of which was Sizzix.  Well, Sizzix was kind enough to include this gorgeous Flip-Its die in our swag bag.  you know I  couldn't wait to play.

card, handmade, sizzix, valentine, your memories here, glitz
This is the Triple Fancy Frame Flip-its Set.  So way fun to use.  There are dies for each of the pieces so no trying to piece together and figure out which dies you need.   I chose to embellish this card with some older embellishments and some Glitz Designs Cashmere Dame papers from Your Memories Here.

Well, thanks for stopping by today, and be sure to ask Kristina about your favorite Sizzix dies and papers.

Hugs.

Cashmere Dame Cards - Your Memories Here

Hi everyone, Today I want to share with you a few cards I made as a gift set for one of our swim coaches. She is getting married at the end of the month and although the team went in on a gift for her, I couldn't resist making a little something special just from our family   I love the little 6x6 pads from Glitz Designs and chose a  little mix and match with a few Prima Wood Icons and bits of lace to create these quick and simple cards. The tags were made with a stamp set from Papertrey Ink.
She really loved the cards and I know the recipients will as well.

Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Dolls - Mixed Media

Hi everyone!  Today I want  to share a project I made using some of the fun items available at the Your Memories Here store.

I have been eyeing all the yummy goodies from Prima's Winter 2013 collection and decided to try my hand a paper doll inspired by Julie Nutting.  As much as I love those stamps, I am afraid that since I am not much of a stamper and they are only a specific size....well......I decided to create my own.  For the background I used some older Prima papers I had in my stash as well as lots of mists, paints, and rub ons.
I then decorated her with lovely with papers from my Glitz Cashmere Dame papers, prima bling, Stickles, and a simple flower.  A few rub ons both from Hambly and Bo Bunny helped add texture and depth.
Finally I used a bit of packaging and my Prima Press to make the title.

It has been a while since I made anything mixed media and I must say I had a lot of fun.  I already have another couple of ladies in the works.  hee hee  Oh, and someone suggested I start naming these lovelies.  Thoughts?

Be sure and stop by the Your Memories Here store and check out all the new goodies coming in from CHA.     And, please excuse our mess as we get everything into the store and reorganized.

Hugs.

That Barbie - She Really Does Have Everything

Hi everyone!  Today to share with you a project I made for my Ainsley and her Barbie collection.

If you are like me and have a girl that loves Barbie, you are probably always finding shoes, purses, and jewelry lying around.  It seems there is no "good" way to organize these items.  So, I decided to create a little "dresser" for Barbie to hold some of her accessories in;  you know, those shoes, brushes, and other accessories that always seem to be getting misplaced.  And besides...what girl doesn't need a little shabby goodness to help with her organization.
I used the Candy Box Sizzix die (don't forget to ask Kristina from Your Memories Here to pick one up for you if you don't have it) to create three separate boxes.  I painted the boxes and then covered them using the gorgeous Cashmere Dame collection from Glitz papers.
After painting the top with a coat of Rock Candy Crackle Paint I added some beautiful Prima blooms and bling
And finally a few buttons to the drawer fronts to complete the look.  These drawers are actually quite large and will easily hold dozens of Barbie shoes in each compartment.

What girl wouldn't love holding some little treasures in these sweet boxes?  And, I have more boxes planned in the coming weeks.  I know you are going to want this die.  hee hee

Thursday

Hi everyone!  Today I thought I would pop in and share a few things I have been working on.  Things I made for me...not for a class, not for a DT assignment, just because.  It seems that lately I am always making something for someone else....it is nice to just sit back and create.  I used some older supplies and photos from last Thanksgiving.  I had a lot of fun creating these, and of course had a huge sense of accomplishment when done because nothing makes me happier these days than using up older goodies.  hee hee

First off, Ainsley.....
Prima Marketing papers, stickers, flowers and bling; American Crafts ribbon rose trim, 3Birds Design, lace doily
 And now, Mackenzie.....
Glitz Design papers, transparency; Websters Pages Sparkler, Prima Marketing blooms, alpha; 3Birds Design doily
So, what have you created lately?

Hugs.

Once Upon a Time....

I was on a roll.  I had bunches of scrapbook projects done, I was blogging most every day....and then...low and behold....life came up and smacked me around a bit.  lol

Seriously tho, sorry I have been MIA, but things have been a bit crazy.  Both girls decided they wanted room makeovers, which is understandable I guess since Mackenzie has had those fairies on her wall since she was 3. hee hee  So, before we get the new carpets installed upstairs (week after Thanksgiving), we decided we should paint.  Ugggghhhh, I don't really mind the actual painting part, it is the packing and moving everything out of the rooms.  sigh.  And those girls are pack rats!  Well, both rooms are now painted so it is time for the excuses to end.

Tomorrow on Ideas for Scrapbookers our Designer Showcase is metal.  Be sure and sneak over there and see everyone's gorgeous projects.  Here is mine.  I used a metal key from Prima as well as some older photo turns.
Glitz Designs Lady Grace collection, Prima lace, key, flowers, alpha, leaves, Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Sugar Maple and Candlelight, unknown photo turns.
This is the view from our veranda on the Alaskan Cruise we went on in August.  Lovely.  What a beautiful end to an incredibly wonderful day.  I used a sketch from Pencil lines for this project.  Beautiful Glitz papers with bits of Prima lace and flowers were perfect for this photo.  And I had been wanting to use this paper forever.  I used a bit of Glimmer Mist on the larger flower to change the color a bit.  It didn't come out quite like I had expected, but, oh well.

Be sure and stop back tomorrow as I for sure have another project ready to share.

Hugs.

A Great Weekend

Hi everyone!  I hope you are having a great week.  Can you believe it is already August?  Time is going by so fast.  Summer is almost over!  Soon the children will be back to school and there is so much still to do, and not nearly enough days to enjoy!  Where did the beach time, the water park time go?  I guess it was all spent at the pool.

Anywho...one of the things I did find time for was a class at my LSS with Tim Holtz.

This was his Creative Blocks class.  Lots of Tim Holtz papers, distress inks, crackle paints and ideaology. Super fun....we even were able to play with beeswax.  It was amazing how we all started out with the same supplies, and yet each person's project was totally unique.

I have also managed to make a few pages.

This first one is from Mackenzie's dance class.  She has decided not to continue with the ballet, but instead to go back to competitive swimming.  There is hidden journaling talking about the decision.  Originally this was supposed to be for the Glitz Designs challenge, but I didn't get it posted in time.  I used lots of Glitz goodies, some old naked Basic Grey chipboard, and a Pencil Lines sketch.
Glitz Designs Papers and stamps, Prima Marketing flowers and lace, Basic Grey Chipboard, Tim Holtz Distress Ink.
And here are the girls, at the start.  Well, the start of their races...one of many that weekend.  I think they each competed in 9 individual events over the course of the three day meet.  I used some old Little Yellow Bicycle papers for this, a few epoxies made with my Epiphany Crafts tool, as well as a Sassy Lil' Sketch.  Such a different look from the one above.  hee hee
Little Yellow Bicycle papers and border stickers, American Crafts alpha and journaling block,  Epiphany Crafts epoxy, The Twinery twine, unknown buttons, ribbon trim.
Well, I have another project to share tomorrow for Your Memories Here.  Hope you have time to drop by.

Guess What???

It is Saturday, Memorial Day weekend, the 28th of the month!!!  Guess what that means?

Well, other than the fact that this is the official start of cabana season (swim team) and that I am at a swim meet all day and Mackenzie has ballet performances all weekend, and it is only a few more days till the renovation on my kitchen begins so I really need to get to packing....it is reveal day at Sassy Lil' Sketches!

As usual, Cheri has provided a fabulous sketch.

And here is my take....

Hooray for Saturday!!!!

Well, today is Saturday and I finally have a few minutes of piece to upload some layouts for you...I also wanted to share what the living room update looks like!  I am so happy with it...I just love my house (when I am not cleaning it anyway, hee hee).

I can't believe we are done with this room...and just in time!  We begin the kitchen remodel June 1.  I have selected all the materials...now just to have it put together.  4-5 weeks is the estimate my contractor is giving me.  Cross your fingers!  You know I cook every day and not having a kitchen may just push me over the edge.

At least I can spend my time in here while I wait.

Dining Room
Right now we are using my 6 foot banquet table as a sewing station in the window of the living room.  Ainsley has decided she wants to sew.  Of course, that table will soon become my kitchen, so she better get finishing her projects.  lol

OK, how about some scrapiness....

A few photos of Mackenzie.  This first one is Mackenzie on her birthday.  I don't know what it is with my children but they don't want birthday cake....Mackenzie chose birthday creme brule.  Do you know how hard it is to get a candle into a creme brule?  lol  I used some of my Glitz Designs Love Nest with bits of gorgeous Prima blooms, bling, bird, butterfly, and lace all from the Your Memories Here store.  I spritzed the blue seam binding with Glimmer Mist also available from the YMH store.  The design/sketch is one that my friend Sara made for an upcoming Ideas for Scrapbookers post.
Glitz Designs Love Notes, Prima flowers, bling, lace, bird and butterfly, Snug Bug seam binding, Glimmer Mist

And here is Mackenzie again.  This time at the archery range down the street from our house.  The girls love going over there in the afternoons and trying their hand at shooting.  Brighton used to enjoy it, but all our bows are just too small for him now.  Guess I might need to invest in a new one?  This one is based on a Pencil Lines sketch and using my new Crate Paper Neighborhood collection.

Well, a few things left on my list today here around the house.  Hope you are having a great weekend.

Hugs.
