Embossing and Gelatos

Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you a project I made using Faber Castell Gelatos and embossing. Did you know that the embossing will resist the Gelatos? For this project you will need a canvas (I always gesso first so that my mediums can move more freely), your stamp, embossing liquid and embossing powder (I used UTEE today)

First thing, stamp your image with the embossing pad onto your canvas and cover with your embossing powder.

You can use a color if you like, but I decided to leave mine clear.

Be sure and heat your embossing powder completely. You want it to be nice and shiny when it is done.
When it cools, you can add color with your Gelatos. Remember, as long as you stick with either warm, or cool, you won’t get mud. I chose three different colors, red, orange and yellow in layers to get an ombre effect.

Before trying to blend the colors, I misted lightly with water…just to get things moving.
Using my fingers, so that I can get in all the little crevices of my embossed image, I worked from top to bottom; too much movement back and forth and I would have mixed my colors all up. Which would have been fun, but wouldn't have had the same effect

After I blended all my colors, I just quickly went over my canvas with a baby wipe. The wipe will remove the color from the top of the embossed image….go lightly, or you will begin to remove some of the color from the canvas as well.

I then added layers of paper, lace and a fun die cut that I highlighted with another Gelato and my Pitt Pen. I
really wanted the image to **POP**.

I die cut and colored a few flowers with Gelatos and voila! DH and I in Paris.

Thanks for stopping by today and sharing with me.  If you would like to learn more fun techniques like these, you should check out Creative Jump Start.

Hugs.

It's Monday....

And it hasn't been pretty!  lol  So, just a quick update.  Winners from last weeks comments are in the post below.

What have I been up to?  Well, this....

Prima Papers, Hydrangeas and Butterfly.  Fancy Pants journaling card, Basic Grey Rubons, Heidi Swap Chippy

Which was super fun to make and I just love...even tho I got all inky and misty misting the flowers and the seam binding, and I remember now why I hate naked chipboard and have binged on buying Thickers.   I painted the ancient chippy blue with paint and then dunked it in the UTEE pot.  One piece, I think the I, jumped out of my tweezers and stuck to my finger.  Let me tell you UTEE...it burns.  I like the effect tho, sparkly, jewel like letters, and the burn isn't too bad.  lol  I found the color palette at Color Combos Galore.

There is a fun new sketch over at Sassy Lil' Sketches.

I have a photo and papers pulled for my next project, but I do believe I see this in my future.  hee hee

Hope you are having a great day!

Hugs.

A Little Something

I have a post up today on Ideas for Scrapbookers on using UTEE and puff paint.  I know I have done that tutorial here with you before, so I won't bother you with it today.

I did however want to share this layout with you.

I made the palm trees and surfboard on my Cricut using SCAL and a file I found at Peppermint Creative.  I was near desperate for the files I wanted to cut...I just couldn't find a thing that was free.  Of course, after doing everything else on this layout, which is straight...I promise....I found 2 sets of surfing paper in my stash.  Sigh...well... I love these files so I am glad I bought them.  Hope I find more uses for hula girls, palm trees, surfboards and hibiscus flowers.  lol

Summer Flying

Summer seems to be flying by.  I can't believe that Brighton is taking his JC entrance exams, swim is over (thank goodness) and ballet summer intensive is almost over.  I have purchased and unpacked all of our school materials for the coming year.  Where did the summer go?

I know, I know...we do still have a few weeks left, and believe me...I mean to make the most of them.

Still not a lot of free time to play with paper.  I did find the time to create this....

When I saw this paper in the scrapbook store, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.  Lots of fussy cutting here.  I cut, distressed, and curled the paper using water.  I added a bit of Rock Candy Stickles on the witches hair, the Cheshire cat and the tea pot.  I embellished many flat Prima flowers with UTEE, Platinum Stickles and some e-Line bling.  Should I come back with a tutorial for you?  Tons of fun and really updates those jars of flowers I have sitting on the shelf.

I hosted Ainsley's 9th birthday party Monday night.  Yep...on a Monday, and....Phil's birthday to boot.  But there was a window available to have the party and I have to take what I can get these days.  Poor thing had to wait over a month to have her party and she simply couldn't wait any longer (we were thinking September looked good.  LOL).  Phil was such a good sport even agreeing to share a birthday cake (Coldstone Cookie Dough) even though he doesn't care for it.

The girls all had a great time.   They played games, braided hair, and for a fun craft....

Decorated flip flops.  It is hard to see, but we added bits of bling lines and lots of flowers.  All the girls were just thrilled with their new shoes.

Well, off to get something done.  Maybe even a little scrapping?

Hugs.
