You Can Cut What with the Cricut?

Hey everyone!  Bad blogger here, but it is Friday!!!  Hooray!!!!   Anyway, today I have a super simple project that everyone has probably made before, something I have made here before...but today I have something new to share.

Yep, another composition book, but check out the bling!  Almost time for back to school and you know how much fun I have been having with the Buckle Boutique Rhinestone Sticker Sheets.  This time I figured out how to cut the sticker sheets with my Cricut Explore!  Woo hoo!!!!  OK, it took quite a bit of trial and error, but here is what I did.

Tape that Rhinestone Sticker Sheet down, you can see I stuck it down on my heavy duty mat and then added tape...and don't skimp on the size of the sheet you are using.  Trying to use a tiny scrap will not work (don't ask how I know that, LOL).
I created a custom setting "Buckle Boutique" on my dashboard and set the pressure to 146 and cut 2x. With those settings I was able to cut the above circle and all the circles on my composition book.

From there, it was really quite simple.  I covered the book with a bit of paper from Dena Designs for Darice and a bit of scrap ribbon I had lying around.
Added my circles and Ainsley's name that I cut using my Sizzix (you have seen me cut Rhinestone Sticker Sheets with the Sizzix before....definitely my fave way).
And I was done.  This project really came together in  no time.  I think I am still going to play around with the settings a bit more.  While I was able to consistently cut a circle, I haven't tried anything more complicated and that may take a bit of work.

Hugs.

What Can You Make With Your Cricut Explore

Hey everyone!  Wanted to drop in, albeit a little late, to share with you a few projects I made with my Cricut Explore.

I know, I know....so many people love their other electronic machines, I had been waffling on a new machine for a while, and then, when the Explore came out, I knew it was the machine for me.  It had the intricate cuts of the other machines, as well as the ability to cut svg files.  I was sold.  And with the constant updates and additions to the machines abilities, yep...I am pretty happy.

OK, so, here are just a couple of things I made for my niece recently.....

First up, a simple birthday card using an image from the Cricut Design Space (love the liscensed characters) and some favorite Core'dinations products, I used the Chalk Core Cards as a base with bits of the Gemstones collection to add a bit of shimmer.  The embossing folder is of course Darice as well.
Next, I made her a few finger puppets.  These were also on the Cricut Design Space site.  for this project I really just used tons of scraps.  Little projects like this are perfect for using up those bits that we all have lying around.  Of course, you can see bits of the Core'dinations Gemstones and Neutrals which are always lying around.

Trailer Box

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Mine was fabulous!  I got to jump on the Paper Trail with Eileen Hull and take a few of her classes.  I wish I could share with you all the beautiful items we made, but that will have to wait.  Instead, I will share with you a project I made for her.

I recently broke down and upgraded my Cricut Expression to the Cricut Explore.  And now I can easily cut my favorite .svg files....and I loved this file from SVGcuts.  I have really been enjoying my new Cricut.  It is so much quieter, and I love the ease of the new design space.  I know that it isn't the fastest machine to use, but the interface is simple and I love it...plus I can still use all my old cartridges...and with the new Print and Cut feature I am really looking forward to playing more.

It took a while...don't get me wrong, but how stinkin' cute....and the little box....filled with homemade fudge.  Hope she liked it.

Hugs.
