Back to School with Clear Scraps and Cricut

Hey everyone!  Today I want to share with you some fun bookmarks I made using the Mini Card Album from Clear Scraps and my Cricut.  With school rapidly upon us I wanted to make something really special for the coming school year.

Recently I won a prize from Cricut that included a bunch of different vinyl sheets and was trying to decide what I should do with them.  I found these images for free in the Cricut Design Space library, sized them to fit the acrylic mini card album and cut them out of a few different colors of vinyl.  The vinyl sticks perfectly to the acrylic album pages making a quick and easy bookmark.  From there I simply punched an extra hole in the middle of the card to string some ribbon and lace.

These bookmarks were super easy and fun to create, and were an easy way to enter into the world of vinyl.  Hugs.

You Can Cut What with the Cricut?

Hey everyone!  Bad blogger here, but it is Friday!!!  Hooray!!!!   Anyway, today I have a super simple project that everyone has probably made before, something I have made here before...but today I have something new to share.

Yep, another composition book, but check out the bling!  Almost time for back to school and you know how much fun I have been having with the Buckle Boutique Rhinestone Sticker Sheets.  This time I figured out how to cut the sticker sheets with my Cricut Explore!  Woo hoo!!!!  OK, it took quite a bit of trial and error, but here is what I did.

Tape that Rhinestone Sticker Sheet down, you can see I stuck it down on my heavy duty mat and then added tape...and don't skimp on the size of the sheet you are using.  Trying to use a tiny scrap will not work (don't ask how I know that, LOL).

I created a custom setting "Buckle Boutique" on my dashboard and set the pressure to 146 and cut 2x. With those settings I was able to cut the above circle and all the circles on my composition book.

From there, it was really quite simple.  I covered the book with a bit of paper from Dena Designs for Darice and a bit of scrap ribbon I had lying around.

Added my circles and Ainsley's name that I cut using my Sizzix (you have seen me cut Rhinestone Sticker Sheets with the Sizzix before....definitely my fave way).

And I was done.  This project really came together in  no time.  I think I am still going to play around with the settings a bit more.  While I was able to consistently cut a circle, I haven't tried anything more complicated and that may take a bit of work.

Embellished Notebook - Dena Designs

Happy Friday everyone!  Hope your day is off to a great start and that you have fun plans for the weekend.  Me?  The usual, lots of time with family and friends.

Today I want to share with you a project I made a bit ago for Darice and Dena Designs.  I really had a great time playing with the Dena Designs papers, and couldn't resist creating this fun little notebook and pencil set for my teens, so way better than the $5 sets they sell at Justice.  hee hee  Here is the complete post from Darice.

EMBELLISHED DIY NOTEBOOK SUPPLIES:

• Embellish by Dena Haute Girls Paper Pack
• Darice 3 Row Silver Bling on a Roll 
• EK Tools Dotted Scallp Edger Punch
• Mod Podge
• Neon Washi Tape Value Pack – Neon
• Composition Book
• Pencil

Begin by choosing your papers.  For this DIY notebook I chose Peace, Sunshine Circles, Fuschia and the Black Emboss from the Haute Girls Pack by Dena.  But feel free to mix and match to create your favorite combinations.  I cut each of the papers to size and then used Mod Podge to adhere them to the composition book.

Here are the sizes I used:

• Peace – 6.5 x 4″
• Sunsine Circles 6.5 x 6″
• Fuscia 1 x 9 5/8″
• Black Emboss 6.5 x 1″
• Bling on a Roll – 5.5″

I chose Mod Podge to adhere the paper as not only would it hold my paper firmly, but would add an extra layer of protection to your DIY notebook. With Mod Podge, it is best to use thin layers and let it dry thoroughly before adding more.  Doing so will help keep your papers from bubbling.

When the first layer was dry, I punched the Black Scallop paper with the border punch and adhered it over the seam.

Add the Fuschia paper and bling on a roll rhinestones next.  This layer of Fuschia paper will help cover any imperfections in your cuts.

Finally, I cut a few of the card pieces to add to the top of my DIY notebook, something to make it a little more special.

And to make the DIY notebook even more special, why not take a few minutes to make a coordinating pencil with washi tape?  The neon color washi tape is so fun with the Haute Girls papers and right on trend for the back to school season.

To begin, make sure your washi tape has a straight edge and line that edge up with the metal part of the eraser.

Tear washi tape to match the edge of the painted part of the pencil.  It takes two strips of washi tape to cover the pencil.  To sharpen the pencil, simple peel back the washi tape a bit.

Back to School - Hydrangea Hippo

Hi everyone, today I wanted to share with you a few projects I made using the School House Vintage kit from Hydrangea Hippo.  With back to school upon us, I decided to make this cute desk set for a teacher friend of mine.

 

 I made a fun clipboard, notepad holder, post it note holder, and pencil box for her desk.

There are so many adorable trims and embellishments in this kit that I couldn't resist going a bit crazy with them.

And I really love the super cute font stickers that are included.  The whole kit is just perfect for back to school projects and layouts.

I also made a mini album that I will be back later this month to share.
