Whimsical Paper Lighthouse

So, a little sad that I am sharing the last couple of posts I will be doing for Core'dinations.  After almost a year of working with Core'dinations  and before that with Darice I have to say I am a bit sad that our relationship is ending.  Before I go though, I want to share with you a few fun things I made (oh, and I will continue to make with their papers....just so much fun).  So, without further ado.......my Whimsical Paper Lighthouse.

Whimsical Lighthouse Supplies:

• Core'dinations Tim Holtz Kraft Core Nostalgic Collection 12x12
• Core'dinations Core Basics Vellum
• Core'dinations Core Basics Patterns Red  Large Dot 
• Core'dinations Core Basics White Canvas Texture 80 lb. 12x12 
• Core'dinations Sand it Gadget  (if desired)
• Lighthouse svg file from SVGCuts.com
• Miscellaneous Embossing Folders (if desired)
• Hemp Twine

Step 1:  Cut all pieces from desired colors.   I know it seems like a lot of pieces, but this project is really quite easy to assemble.

Step 2:  From here you could simply assemble the lighthouse using the video directions from SVGCuts, or you can add some dimension and texture to your pieces by embossing.  I began with the blue pieces and the Darice Honeycomb embossing folder.

Step 3:  For even more interest, sand the embossing to reveal the Kraft-Core underneath.

Step 4:  Continue embossing and sanding your pieces.

Of course, the white cardstock only needed a bit of texture, no sanding needed here.

Step 5:  From here I simply assembled the lighthouse using the video instructions provided and added a bit of twine around the base.

You can add a battery operated tealight or LEDs to your lighthouse to add a pleasing glow.

Hello Little Doggie

Hi everyone!  Happy Monday, hope everyone had a great weekend.

Today I wanted to share with you a fun card I made using fun new Pop-up Puppies stamps and coordinating Dog Sayings from Stampendous that I received as part of the  Clearscraps/Stampendous swap this week.

To create this card I used the Clear Scraps Fence Mixer and a Clear Craft Sheet, cut to size.  I chose to make my own card because...well, how cute is that little puppy head sticking over the fence looking for the bone?

To create the texture on the fence I simply ran my Fence Mixer through my Sizzix Machine and my Tim Holtz Wood Grain Embossing Folder.

Once my Mixer was embossed I ran my Staz-on white inkpad over the raised edges to "paint" the fence.

To create the card embellishments I simply stamped my images (two of the dog head to get the pop-up effect) and used water color pencils to color and a bit of the Stampendous Frantage Encrutsted Jewel Kit in blue to embellish my sentiment label. 

 I attached one of the dog heads to the fence, and the other to the base of the card so that when the card was opened the dog would still have a head.  

Bits of ribbon and trim finished off my embellishment.

Love Photo Mobile

Mini Album Addiction

Happy Monday everyone!  Hope you are having a great week.  Things are even more crazy here than usual as we prepare for Thanksgiving.  Brighton's coming home for a few days (you would think that since he is 45 minutes away we would see more of him), houseguests, and of course cooking a huge feast.  lol  Oh....and you know the crafting never ceases.

And on the subject of crafting...here is a cute little chunky mini board book I made back when Eileen Hull was on her papertrail.  I shared with you a few of the other projects we made...but not this one.  I don't know why, just hadn't gotten around to it I guess.  Well.....here it is.

I really love making minis...and this one was so cute.  Made with Eileen Hull's Box die and a few of her embossing folders and filled with all kinds of junk I had lying on my desk.  I learned much about mat board and embossing and my sizzix machine...well..and that I have way too many mini books with nothing in them.  lol

SVGCuts Scarecrow

Hey everyone!  Hope you are having a great day and getting ready for the weekend.  Lots to do around here getting ready for the holidays, CHA, and just life in general.  More swim, more school....

My new love tho? I have been having the best time building paper projects (mostly home decor) from svgcuts.com with my Cricut and Coredination's Cardstock.  I love the texture and dimension I can get with the cardstock and a few embossing folders.   Yes, this entire project is done using cardstock and just a few buttons.

I chose quite a few of the Darice embossing folders that I have had in my stash, and lots of different fall colors of cardstock.  Stripes, honeycomb, chevrons; Darice has quite a variety of folders available for embossing.

I was really pleasantly surprised with how easy my little scarecrow was to put together.  I think it took longer to make all the cuts and feed through all the colors than it did to glue everything up.

I think he needs a name, but he has found a new home amongst my other Thanksgiving decor.

Clearly Embossed Card

Good Morning everyone!  Yep, summer is here and life got away from me with swim team...so I have pretty much been MIA.  Sorry about that, but I am here today to share with you a card I made using the Ornate Send it Clear Card from Clear Scraps.

To create this card I began by embossing the top pieces of the card with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and my Sizzix machine.  I love how easy it is to add that extra bit of dimension to Clear Scrap acrylic with embossing.  

After embossing, before I assembled my card I dry brushed a bit of acrylic paint onto the edges to add just a bit of depth.

I finished the card with some older papers and bits and baubles I had lying on my desk.  Those papers are seriously old.   I believe they are from 2005.  lol

Garden Borders - Clear Scraps

Hi Everyone and happy Monday.  Today I want to share with you a fun project I made using the Garden Border acrylic embellishment to emboss my tag.

To emboss the tag I used my Sizzix Machine.  For the sandwich you will being with the multi-purpose platform, your acrylic cutting plate, the acrylic border or other piece, and your tag.

On top of the tag place the silicone rubber pad and finally your impressions pad.  Run this through the machine.

 Here you can see the tags once they went through the machine.  Lovely, aren't they?

I then used the border as a mask.  A few pieces of washi tape hold the border in place while I add random bits of my favorite mists.

 Finally, lots of lovely embellishment to complete the look.

I love the texture of the tag as well as the masked section.  Best thing is, I still have the border so I can do it again and again...or use the border on a scrapbook page.

Embossing and Gelatos

Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you a project I made using Faber Castell Gelatos and embossing. Did you know that the embossing will resist the Gelatos? For this project you will need a canvas (I always gesso first so that my mediums can move more freely), your stamp, embossing liquid and embossing powder (I used UTEE today)

First thing, stamp your image with the embossing pad onto your canvas and cover with your embossing powder.

You can use a color if you like, but I decided to leave mine clear.

Be sure and heat your embossing powder completely. You want it to be nice and shiny when it is done.
When it cools, you can add color with your Gelatos. Remember, as long as you stick with either warm, or cool, you won’t get mud. I chose three different colors, red, orange and yellow in layers to get an ombre effect.

Before trying to blend the colors, I misted lightly with water…just to get things moving.
Using my fingers, so that I can get in all the little crevices of my embossed image, I worked from top to bottom; too much movement back and forth and I would have mixed my colors all up. Which would have been fun, but wouldn't have had the same effect

After I blended all my colors, I just quickly went over my canvas with a baby wipe. The wipe will remove the color from the top of the embossed image….go lightly, or you will begin to remove some of the color from the canvas as well.

I then added layers of paper, lace and a fun die cut that I highlighted with another Gelato and my Pitt Pen. I
really wanted the image to **POP**.

I die cut and colored a few flowers with Gelatos and voila! DH and I in Paris.

Feeling Beachy? Zutter and Clearsnap

Hi everyone!  Today I wanted to share something a little different for me, a fun mixed media wall hanging I made using my Zutter Bind-it-All, o-Wires, Canvas Artboard and lots of fun goodies from ClearSnap.

I love the texture and weight of the canvas art board.  It is the perfect weight for heavier items like these small shells.  I began these canvases by spritizing with a mixture of different colors of Smooch Spritz, allowing the colors to bleed into one another.  I then added a bit of gesso and finally a super cute embossed sun.  Did you know that Clearsnap makes scented embossing powders under the Color Box line?  This yellow smells like lemons.  So super fun on a project, I really want to make a card using it.

The Zutter canvas readily accepted the different mediums including inks, gesso, spray ink, stamps and embossing and was a super fun weight to work with.

And the antique brass o-wires complimented my project perfectly.

I had a great time creating this wall hanging and I know you would have fun playing with the art board as well.

Happy Wednesday

Hi everyone....Just popping in really quick to share a fun little tag I made using my new Tim Holtz Limited Edition Distress Inks.

As I am sure you know, there has been a lot of drama with these inks....could you get them? where could you get them? does anyone have them still? I have mine, and you can still get yours at Your Memories Here. And they are a great price, only $14.99. Once I had these gorgeous inks in my hands, you know I could not resist jumping right in. And for me that meant a fun tag.

Tattered Angels tag, Tim Holtz Distress Inks, stamps, tissue tape, ink embossing powder, Prima Marketing flowers,  Ranger stickles, Recollection chipboard

I used all three colors on this tag, making an ombre design on both the tag itself and the tissue tape. I blended the ripe persimmon into the seedless preserves and accented the edge of the tag with the gathered twig. I added a bit of Black Diamond stickles along the bottom edge design.....

threw in  a few layered Prima flowers that I accented with more stickles; and stamped and embossed a few spooky designs.

Finally, I ran my seam binding across the seedless preserves ink to dye it the perfect matching shade.

I am working on some fall home decor projects and know exactly where this tag will be fitting in.
