Tinkerbell Fairy Light and Card

Hey everyone...well, I warned you that I wouldn't be around as much.  lol  But here I am today to share with you a tutorial for the Disney Pixar Blog Hop.

Disney and crafting are a magical combination, and we are so happy you joined us to day for this blog hop.  Some of the crafters participating in this event have been doing this together since 2011!  Over the years the hop has grown but one thing has always stayed the same . . . amazing crafting projects that feature your favorite characters from Disney and Pixar movies.

Tinkerbell Fairy Light

My little niece, like many girls her age, is obsessed with few things in life, the first, Frozen, and the other, Tinkerbell.  Well, she has been scared of the dark lately so I decided to help her out with this little night light.

Supplies Needed:

• Mason Jar
• Mod Podge
• Epson Salts
• Battery Operated Tea Light
• Tinkerbell Sticker (I created my own with Cricut)
• Foam Adhesive
• Assorted embellishments for top

Step 1:  Coat mason jar with a thin layer of Epson Salts.  You can tint your Epson Salts with a bit of food coloring if you like...I used a bit of red to make pink.  For extra hold, you can spray a bit of poly sealer over the Epson salts.

Step 2:  Create Tinkerbell sticker image.  I used the Print & Cut feature on my Cricut machine to create the sticker, but if you have a favorite sticker, feel free to use it.

Step 3:  Attach Tinkerbell sticker to tea light using foam adhesive.

Step 4:  Embellish Jar.  I used some small flowers and a bead spray to decorate the top of my mason jar, but feel free to use whatever you have handy.

Super quick and easy.  Definitely something you can make in an evening.  I think my niece and her friends may even choose to make them as a craft for her upcoming birthday party.

Of course the light had to come with a card.  And what is more fun than a shaker card.

Tinkerbell Shaker Card

Supplies Needed:

• Card Blank (I used a chalkboard card from Core'dinations)
• Patterned Papers
• Sizzix Die
• Foam Tape
• Clear Acrylic
• Sequins and Small Beads
• Embellishments

Step 1:  Cut hole in center of cardstock to create window for shaker.  I love these thinlet dies from Sizzix when used with the magnetic plate.  This combination allows me to place my window exactly where I want.

Step 2:  Add acrylic to the inside of the window and surround window with foam tape.  You want to make sure and not have any holes that your sequins can fall out.  Looking for acrylic?  Try old packaging.

Step 3:  Fill with window with sequins and small beads.

Step 4:  Attach to cardstock base.

Step 5:  Embellish front of the card as desired.

Pinecone Owls- Kids Craft

Hey everyone!  Hope you are having a great day.  Recently I had my niece over for a few days while my sister was out of town...well, you know what that means; kid crafts!  lol   Every day I walk the dog and every day I see gobs of pinecones lying on the ground along the paseo (public walking area in my neighborhood).  Anyway, we grabbed a few and decided to make these with the help of my Sizzix Machine.

Now, before you start, if you are using pinecones you have found, you may want to clean and de-sap them.  No one wants creepy crawlies coming out of their owls.  hee hee  To do so, fill a bucket with warm water and 1/2 cup vinegar and let set for 30 minutes and then place on newspaper to dry overnight.  The cones will be fully open when dry.

Lili loves using the Sizzix Big Shot, and it cuts so many different materials.  We cut pieces of cardstock, glitter cardstock, fun foam and felt to create our owls using the Primative Hearts #3.

These are a few of the Core'dinations papers we cut.  Sticking with one shape made mixing and matching the pieces of our owls quite easy.

If you want your owl to have a fat top, find the balance point of the pinecone tip.  Or, simply have a skinny owl by using the base for the feet.

We cut hearts in half to create additional shapes for the owls, The top part of the heart is perfect for the face, bottom part of the owl the beak.  Cut the beak in half and you have ears.  How easy is that?  Whole hearts make cute wings that you can use one at a time, or layer for a fun look.  You can also use the full hearts for feet.

Simply use craft glue, or to ensure a firm, quick dry (and a bit safer for little hands) or hot glue to place the pieces on your pinecone.

Mix and match your colors and patterns for even more fun.

Finally, a few google eyes to make the owl adorable.  How easy was that?

So grab a few scraps of paper and fabric and your Sizzix machine and start cutting pieces for owls.  This would be a fun craft to do on Thanksgiving with the whole family.

Holiday Ornaments With Clear Scraps

Hi everyone!  I warned you last week, Christmas is coming so today I want to share with you a trio of simple holiday ornaments you can create this season.  

These ornaments are so easy to make with Clear Scraps Clear Craft Sheets and your favorite stickers, or in my case, printable vinyl I cut with my Cricut Explore.

I began by cutting the Clear Scraps Clear Craft Sheet into a circle using my Sizzix Die Cut machine.  Clear Scraps Craft Sheets are simple to cut with steel rule die cut machines, scissors...or purchase some of the fun shapes that are pre cut for you.  Clear Scraps has many shapes to chose from, including pre cut ornaments.  I then designed and cut my images on the Cricut to fit and applied to the acrylic.

To add extra interest, you can sand the back of your ornament for a frosted look.

Or maybe paint on some stickles, or alcohol inks.  The clear acrylic allows for so many fun options.

Fall Leafy Wreath

Hi everyone! Today I want to share with you a fun fall project using a Clear Scraps Clear Craft Sheet and a mirror piece from a from the Oval Fancy Mirror Frame and one of my favorite fall Sizzix Dies, the Tim Holtz Layered Leaf.

Supplies Needed:

• Clear Scraps Clear Craft Sheet
• Clear Scraps Mirror
• Sizzix Tim Holtz Layered Leaf
• Big Shot Machine
• Embroidery Hoop
• Ribbon
• StazOn Inks in Fall Colors
• IRResistables Bronze
• Assorted Flowers
• Vinyl Words

Step 1:  Cut Clear Craft Sheet in thirds and die cut leaves.  I found by doing so I was able to create 9 leaves with just one sheet of Clear Acrylic.  The Clear Craft Sheet is simple to cut with a pair of scissors and it cuts even easier with the Sizzix die cut machine and steel rule dies.

Step 3:  After cutting, simply emboss with the coordinating Texture Fade.  The Texture Fade comes with the die, so a one stop shop.  Did you know that you can emboss your acrylic?  How cool is that?

Step 4:  Remove plastic covering from Clear Craft Sheet.  These leaves still have the sheets, but how cool do they look?

Step 5:  Ink leaves with Stazon and then spray backside with IrResistable spray in bronze.  The bronze irResistable spray really helps the leaves stand out while still highlighting the translucense of the acrylic.

Step 6:  Ink mirror piece in the same colors as leaves and attach words (I chose vinyl which I cut with my Cricut, but you could use a sticker, or leave this piece off all together)

Step 7:  Glue all pieces to embroidery hoop.  How simple is that?  I used a bit of Beacon Zip Dry.

Welcome Fall with a Little Bling

Hey everyone!  Happy Friday.  Hope you are having a great day.  I have been mad decorating for the fall, not so many spooky things now that my son is gone, really enjoying a bit more of a relaxed holiday.  lol

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a quick and easy project I created with a pumpkin I found at Michaels, some scraps from a Rhinestone Sticker sheet from the Buckle Boutique (which is on sale now) and my Cricut.

So, I found this cute little pumpkin on sale at Michaels.  It already had some pretties on it, but you can never have too many beautiful things so...

I cut a few flourishes from the Cheetah print rhiniestone sheet (I just love the fall colors in it...and a little animal print is always good for the soul.  hee hee) with my Sizzix.  Be sure and use your cutting pad, die, rhinestone sheet and second cutting pad in that order for best results.

The Buckle Boutique Rhinestones cut so easily with the steel rule dies from Sizzix.  It is definitely one of my favorite ways to use the Rhinestone Sticker Sheets.  The die I used is super old, but there are plenty of gorgeous Sizzix flourish dies to choose from.

Then I simply placed my flourishes on the top of my pumpkin.  So easy, right?

I finished the pumpkin decorating off with a big sunflower I had lying on my desk and a "welcome" I cut from my Cricut from vinyl.

This project was super simple and took no time at all to complete.

Leafy Witch Hat With Sizzix and Core'dinations

Looking for a not so scary decoration7s for your Halloween festivities?  How about this lovely fall witch’s hat that I created last year for Core'dinations?  This project is quick and easy and you only need a few items.  

Leafy Witch Hat Supplies:

• Tim Holtz Kraft Core Nostalgic Collection
• Glitter Silk 6×6 Cardstock
• Core’dinations Sand it Gadget
• Foamies Black Witch Dress Up Hat
• Darice wired 7/8 inch Wired Metallic Copper Ribbon
• 4 inch Burlap Flower
• Sizzix Leaf Die Cut and Embossing Folder
• Sizzix Big Shot Machine
• Hot Glue

Step 1.  Die cut, emboss, and sand leaves.  I made a total of 12 leaves, 4 of each color: No. 6, No. 7, and No. 20; yellow, orange and brown.  After sanding wipe each down with your Sand-it Gadget.

Step 2. This step is not necessary, but for added interest and depth, you can ink the edges of the leaves.

Step 3.  To create spiral flower, begin by drawing a spiral on the back of the copper Glitter Silk sheet.

Step 4.  Cut along drawn line.

 Step 5.  Roll flower from outside edge and adhere to center when complete.  I like to step on the flower a bit to add more dimension.

Step 6.  Adhere burlap flower and metallic ribbon to hat.

Step 7.  Attach leaves behind burlap flower.

Step 8.  Finish by adding rolled flower to center of burlap flower.
